Pelam Tree Cafe sits quietly under the canopy of mango trees along Jalan Abdul Samad, offering a casual spot for both locals and visitors craving affordable western and Malay-style comfort food. This café is best suited for those who enjoy an unpretentious dining experience with a laid-back outdoor atmosphere, perfect for a midnight snack or a relaxed evening out.

The outdoor setting is shaded and calm, making it a nice spot to unwind, though the presence of mosquitoes is a noted trade-off for the natural environment. The crowd here tends to be a mix of young adults and families who appreciate good food without breaking the bank. Given the menu options, Pelam Tree Cafe appeals to those looking for hearty portions—fried rice with generous chicken pieces gets positive attention, and the pasta, while decent and budget-friendly, has sparked mixed opinions.

Regulars seem to come for more than just the food; the cafe’s friendliness and approachable vibe resonate well with diners who enjoy casual get-togethers. Service can be slow during busier weekend nights, and popular dishes like pasta can run out late in the evening, so arriving earlier is wise if you’re targeting those items. While there have been some hiccups with order accuracy, overall the combination of price, taste, and atmosphere keeps customers returning.

Menu highlights like the Sawadi Lamb, Roberto Lamb Chops, and local twists such as Nachos Ala Malay and Jandalicious Waffle Ice Cream give this cafe a bit of a quirky, cross-cultural edge that fits Johor Bahru’s diverse palate. Coffee lovers will find the rose latte a pleasant surprise, adding to the casual coffee shop feel alongside the working-into-the-evening crowd.

Ideal times to visit are early evenings when the café welcomes a mellow vibe under the trees, or late night for a simple, affordable bite. While not a refined dining spot, Pelam Tree Cafe suits anyone after a relaxed meal in informal outdoor surroundings, blending local flavors with western comfort dishes in a music-and-mosquito-laced setting.

The menu had variety of option. Personally for the fried rice it was super worth it the chicken was huge and yummy. The pasta was a bit too hyped up but ok for the price. However, as it is under mango trees there was mosquito but it was cheap and worth trying for a midnight snack also

The food was gd and the price was surprisingly cheap. I lurveee the coffee.. I had rose late. It was yumzzz.... Gotta step up ur svs.. Was a bit slow and do prepare ur food extra esp on weekends... By 10.30pm, pasta was sold out, and d chicken maryland came without d fried banana,, but came with same price tag. If something is missing ur food, u should hv compensate ur customers accordingly... But i will keep supporting this plc.. Hope they'll improve.

If you're looking for a western food to eat, this is the place. All the foods are delicious and cheap! Their pasta only cost less than RM10! But if you're not into western, it's okay! They got Nasi Goreng as well. The staffs are all friendly and welcoming. 10/10 would recommend this place to everyone. Plus point because I love how calm the ambience is :) Keep up the good work!
